Powered by Calibre 2121, introduced to the Royal Oak in 1972 and the Thinnest automatic movement with a central rotor and date indication at the time. As the last piece, this a new era for Audemars Piguet and one of the most famous and significant sport watches ever produced but what a way to go out.
The case and Bracelet of this piece combine sandblasted titanium with polished Bulk Metallic Glass a first for Audemars Piguet. Bulk metallic glass is viewed as one of the most important metallic materials due to its unique properties. Extreme strength at room temperature but high flexibility at high temperature. The palladium-based allow act’s similar to many other glasses when heated such as amorphicity and transparency. The non-crystalline nature of this material let the watch play in the light in a very unique way.
With so much new with the case and bracelet, the dial has stayed true to its origins. The soft grey hues showcase the Petit Tapissere dial and have retained the original Royal Oak typography.
