Zenith and Cohiba Cigars are extending their excellent partnership by marking a new milestone that is tailored for those that seek out those special moments to indulge and enjoy the work of artisans. Habanos World Days is a three-day online event, which is traditionally celebrated on location in a festival which has been organised for the last 20 years (+) in Havana.
This festival consists of thematic conferences, virtual tours of cigar factories, and the iconic Habana World Challenge. In line with this festival, Zenith is teaming up with Cohiba to celebrate their 55th anniversary. It’s not just an ordinary celebration either, for the 55th anniversary Zenith is releasing a special commemorative limited-edition timepiece.
Design:
Zenith has given a new look to their iconic Chronomaster open model, to more suit Cohiba’s unique aesthetic appearance. To create this timepiece, Zenith drew inspiration from the packaging and paper bands that wrap each of Cohiba’s entirely hand-rolled and exquisitely blended cigars.
Encased in a 42mm stainless steel case, the dial certainly does stand out thanks to the vivid colours. The dial of this Chornomaster Open Cohiba 55th anniversary edition is done in the distinct saffron-yellow tone and white on black checkered motif. To complete the overall look, the chronograph seconds hand with the Zeniths iconic star-shaped symbol as the counterweight is done in yellow as well. The top half of the dial is black which allows the open heart to stand out. The 30-minute sub counter at 3 o’clock and the 12-hour sub counter at 6 o’clock are in white which contrasts nicely against the black and yellow dial background.
The Chornomaster Open Cohiba 55th anniversary edition is offered in a black alligator leather strap, which essentially lets the dial take center stage.
Movement :
The movement used in this anniversary edition timepiece is Zenith’s own El Primero 4061 automatic calibre movement. A COSC-certified movement, the El Primero 4061 puts out a frequency of 36 000 VpH (5hz) and has a power reserve of approximately 50 hours. The case back of the watch has a special Cohiba 55 logo printed on the interior side of the sapphire crystal.
The Chornomaster Open Cohiba 55th anniversary edition is limited to a run of just 55 pieces. As a way of enjoying the full experience and celebrating the 55th anniversary of Cohiba, each of the anniversary edition timepieces will come with a set of 5 special Cohiba cigars which are presented in an exclusive cobranded porcelain jar. The Chornomaster Open Cohiba 55th anniversary edition will be available at Zenith boutiques and select retailers worldwide from October 2021.
