Positioned in the brand’s professional range, Breitling has just released their latest timepiece; the Endurance Pro. Being lightweight and having a sports chronograph, this watch was designed to cater for both athletes and everyday casual wearers. The Breitling Endurance Pro brings together high precision, innovative technology along with an array of colourful designs.
The inspiration behind the Breitling Endurance Pro is the brand’s very own Sprint model, a memorable watch created in the 1970’s. The Breitling Sprint was very lightweight and also included a pulsometer.
The Breitling Sprint was designed ideally for athletes while having the aesthetic appeal to be worn as a daily. The watch was made from resin, making it comfortable to wear, while the pulsometer allowed athletes to be able to monitor their heart rates. Much like the latest Endurance Pro model, the Breitling Sprint was also produced in various colours to suit a variety of tastes.
The Breitling Endurance Pro was designed and built to be put through the paces, whether it be an intense workout or playing your favourite sport, all the while being fashionable enough to be a daily watch. Breitling CEO Georges Kern states “When Jan Frodeno first became a member of our Triathlon Squad, he asked me what Breitling he should wear. We started brainstorming about the perfect sporty lifestyle watch and that conversation led to the development of the Endurance Pro. With this watch, we adapted our SuperQuartz™ technology to the needs of people like Jan who play as hard as they work. And the Breitlight® case is so light that it won’t interfere with anyone’s training routine or sporting activity.”
The Breitling Endurance Pro comes in five different vibrant colours; blue, orange, red, yellow and white. All the models feature the same dial design with only the Diver Pro rubber strap and inner bezel ring changing colours.
The Breitling Endurance Pro features a black dial and black rotating bezel. The bezel comes engraved with cardinal points (N, E, S, W). The inner bezel comes marked with the pulsometer scale, which is where the colour change occurs from model to model. This timepiece also comes with a tactile moulded crown providing excellent grip while also colour matching to the strap and inner bezel ring. The hour indices are Arabic numerals with the 3, 6 and 9 markers being quite large. The watch has chronograph features too at the 2, 6 and 10 o’clock hour markers. The drawback of this watch I can see is that the dial can be a little too cluttered. It may not be everyone’s preference, but if you’re used to busy dials, then this model won’t deter you away.
Breitling has used lightweight materials such as Breitlight® when constructing the Endurance Pro. Breitlight® was first introduced in 2016. Breitlight® is roughly 3.3 times lighter than titanium and 5.8 times lighter than stainless steel. This innovative material is also nonmagnetic, thermally stable and hypoallergenic.
The Endurance Pro comes in the Diver Pro Rubber strap. This is the best strap option for this watch in my opinion as it suits what the watch was designed for. When you’re exercising and working up a sweat, no other strap variation can offer the comfort and durability that these straps do. And they are stylish to be worn for casual wear too. Coming into the summer months, the rubber strap’s will come in handy. If however, you were after something a little different, then ECONYL® yarn NATO straps can be purchased separately. These nato straps pair nicely in theme with the different coloured Endurance Pro models.
The Breitling Endurance Pro is run by the brands COSC-certified Breitling Calibre 82. The Calibre 82 uses what’s known as SuperQuartz technology, which Breitling states deliver exceptional precision. This SuperQuartz movement powers all the pieces in Breitlings Professional range of watches. The Endurance Pro is also water-resistant to 100 meters (10 bar).
The modern Breitling is becoming more in touch with its users, catering and also pushing people to have a more active lifestyle. They stand behind aspirational yet accessible sports, which include running, swimming and cycling. When this trio of sports come together, they make up the IRONMAN competitions, however individually they are sports everyone can enjoy.
With this in mind, Breitling created the Breitling Endurance Pro Strava Challenge. Strava is the world’s leading app used by runners and cyclists. Regardless of the sport being played, Strava allows the athlete/user to track every aspect of their activity. The participants of the Breitling Endurance Pro Strava Challenge, which went live on 26 August 2020, are eligible for the virtual Breitling Challenge Badge. The Strava Challenge requires competitors to complete 500 minutes of their chosen activity. The reason 500 minutes was chosen as a benchmark was that this is roughly how long it takes to complete a full IRONMAN event. The participants can choose their own activity, whether it be swimming, running, cycling, hiking or any other sport. As this is a challenge for the general public, participants will have two weeks to complete the 500 minutes.
The all-new Breitling Endurance Pro with its lightweight case, an array of functions to suit fitness enthusiasts and athletes to the fashionable colours, this model is definitely an all-rounder. Being offered with two years warranty, the new Breitling Endurance Pro is available for $4,490.00 AUD.
