Tag Heuer recently celebrated the longstanding and extensive partnership with the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing F1 team. Since 2016, Tag Heuer has been the official Timekeeper and the Offical Watch and Team Performance Partner of Aston Martin Red Bull Racing. To commemorate this special occasion, the luxury Swiss Watch manufacturer released a special edition Formula 1 watch.
The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Special Edition 2020 (Tag Heuer F1 Chrono for short) is designed specifically to match the colour scheme of the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing RB16 Car, released last month in Barcelona by the F1 team. Since the partnership began between the two brands, Tag Heuer has released two watches dedicated to the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing team.
The 2020 Tag Heuer F1 Chrono comes in a 43mm stainless steel case which has a fine-brushed finish. To match the casing, the Tag Heuer F1 Chrono also comes with a finely brushed stainless-steel bracelet and folding clasp. The folding clasp is designed using a driving extension and double safety feature, to stop the watch from accidentally unclasping mid-race.
The dial in this watch is where most of the attention is directed to. The dial features a beautiful sunray brushed blue finish, which draws its inspiration from the body color of the RB16 Aston Martin Formula 1 car. The hour, minute hands along with the hour indexes are Rhodium plated while being coated with Super-LumiNova. This provides a clean contrast on the blue dial, making readability super crisp.
Tag Heuer has also used different colour accents to make the dial true to the F1 car’s colour scheme. Yellow has been used for the chronograph seconds hand, while touches of red have been used on the tachymeter scale and chronograph counters on the dial. This makes the watch quite colourful and pleasing to look at. The bezel has been given a blue finish as well to match the sunray dial.
The engine running the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Special Edition 2020 is a quartz Ronda 5040D movement, which Tag Heuer uses for their Formula 1 Series watches. The Ronda 5040D movement powers the three counters on the dial, which is the 60 minute at 3 o’clock, 1/10th of second at 6 o’clock and constant second counter at 9 o’clock. The movement also allows for a date window at the 4 o’clock position. The case back of the watch celebrates the partnership between Tag Heuer and Aston Martin with a special engraving which sees both logos of the brands together.
The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Special Edition 2020 will be available worldwide later this year.
