As the release of the Bentley Continental GT Mulliner Convertible, Breitling has released a special watch in commemoration of this event. The Breitling Premier Bentley Mulliner Limited Edition celebrates the partnership with Bentley motors along with the release of Bentley’s newest convertible.
We touched on Breitling’s partnership with Bentley in our article earlier. This new piece by Breitling takes this partnership further, as the two companies celebrate a collaboration of 17 years; the longest between a watchmaker and automobile manufacturer.
The Breitling Premier Bentley Mulliner Limited Edition focuses on Bentley’s Mulliner workshop, which is where the manufacture’s most tailored-made models have been created since 1959. Bentley’s Mulliner workshop is an extension of Mulliner, which is a family company that can be traced back to 1870. Mulliner is well known for their bespoke creations which were made to the highest quality and standards to meet a variety of requirements by the customer. This excellent reputation is what led to the brand’s prestigious partnership with Bentley in 1959.
The watch draws much of its design inspiration from the Continental GT Mulliner Convertible. The Mulliner Convertible is the only Continental GT to have a Breitling-edition dashboard clock on the car. The CEO of Breitling, Georges Kern summed up the latest collaboration between the two companies well by stating: “the Premier Bentley Mulliner Limited Edition, with its clear links between Bentley’s and our DNA, is a logical next step in our shared story. It is also a testimony to Bentley Mulliner, whose name is synonymous with heritage, craftsmanship, and outstanding performance.”
The Breitling Premier Bentley Mulliner Limited Edition comes in a 42mm stainless steel case. The silver dial used depicts the Bentley Continental GT Mulliner Convertible’s dashboard clock. The blue used on the minute/tachymeter track and the chronograph counters on the dial, along with the blue alligator leather strap, is a reference to the Bentley’s imperial blue leather on the interior of the car. To differentiate from the blue and silver colour theme, Breitling has used a red chronograph seconds hand along with a centre 60-minute scale on the centre of the dial. The inspiration behind the red colour comes from the red stitching found throughout the interior of the Bentley Continental GT Mulliner Convertible.
We can tell from the two-counter layout of 30 minute at 3 o’clock and a constant second counter at 9 o’clock, that Breitling has used their iconic in-house calibre 01 movement. The calibre 01 movement comes with a very generous 70 hours of power reserve and is also COSC certified. The transparent case back also allows the viewer to be able to see the excellent calibre 01 movement. The case back also has the inscription “Mulliner Edition – Breitling – ONE OF 1000”. Drawing inspiration from the Mulliner Convertible, the Bentley Mulliner Limited Edition is Breitling’s latest premier piece that reflects the long-standing partnership between the two well-known companies. Breitling Premier collection and Bentley’s Continental brand reflect each other perfectly, with their performance and timeless design.
