Vacheron Constantin – Overseas Dual Time

by Chamath Gamage

Launched initially in 2018, Vacheron Constantin’s Overseas Dual Time gets a new updated look this year. The model released on November 18th gets an all-black look treatment with red accents and a beautiful shimmering steel case. The Overseas Dual Time was designed by Vacheron Constantin as part of a collection that is dedicated to globe trotters and the spirit of travel.

All the intricate details of the Overseas Dual Time has been carefully thought out by Vacheron Constantin to accommodate for the daily life of a world traveller, making the watch practical while still retaining the looks.

The new translucent black-lacquered dial acts as a beautiful backdrop to make the watch more practical and legible on any occasion. The luminescent 18-carat gold facetted hour-markers along with the hour and minute hands give the dial a direction black and white contrast. Around the rim of the dial, there is also a double minutes and seconds scale. On the 41mm Steel case, Vacheron Constantin has used the Hexagonal bezel, which is iconic to their Overseas collection.

The red accents on the arrows add just the right amount of colour so that the watch doesn’t look plain black and white. The movement the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time is the self-winding Manufacture 5110 DT calibre. The main feature of this calibre is simultaneously able to read two time-zones. The fourth hand, with the red-tipped arrow on the main dial acts as an indicator for home time. The other red-tipped arrow on the 9 ‘o clock sub-dial position serves as an indicator for day and night display.

The date wheel at the 6 o’clock position is synchronised with local time and can be adjusted with its push-piece in the 4 o’clock position. The crown can be used to adjust the two 12-hour zones in both directions. Vacheron Constantin’s Manufacture 5110 DT calibre can achieve a power reserve of up to 60 hours and has a water resistance of approximately 150m.

Vacheron Constantin’s Overseas Dual Time comes with 3 interchangeable straps. Changing the straps is also made all the easier as no tools are required. Bracelet options include steel with polished/sating brushed links, rubber strap or alligator leather strap. Being able to change the strap on the go easily gives the watch a lot of flexibility to match the occasion. Accompanied by the new easy to read contrasting black dial, the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time is an ideal partner for world travellers.
