What is better than a Penthouse at The Langham with stunning views of the Gold Coast? One that has diamond set and precious metal Breitling watches in it!
It’s not often that you can see a large collection of precious metal and diamond set watches from a brand in one place, and it is even rarer when that location happens to be a penthouse suite at The Langham, one of Queensland’s and The Gold Coast’s newest luxury beachside resorts. But, this is exactly what was on the cards for a group of lucky watch enthusiasts over the weekend as Watch Advice teamed up with Breitling to bring some of the brand’s gold and diamond set pieces to the Gold Coast, helping to celebrate Breitling’s 140th birthday.
Not only is it Breitling’s 140th birthday, but recently, Breitling has opened up their latest boutique in Australia at Pacific Fair – one of Queensland’s premier luxury shopping destinations, so this event was perfect timing to bring the Breitling brand to life, and showcase watches from their Chronomat, Navitimer, AVI, SuperOcean and Premier collections – all in gold or diamond set.
Breitling’s National Retail Director, Nicholas Longton-Davis, and Watch Advice Founder, Chamath Gamage hosted the night along with staff from the Breitling Boutique at Pacific Fair and myself, and Watch Advice writer, Sameera Gamage mingling and answering any and all questions about the special timepieces on display.
For those lucky enough to arrive early as the sun was going down, they were treated to a magnificent view of the Gold Coast and its beaches. When you see the view from the balcony picture below out just one side, you get the appeal of this city!
Being an upscale, yet casual affair, Breitling watches were placed strategically around the penthouse, from the main showcase area to the living area, and even through to the master suite. This allowed guests the chance to wander around the penthouse, mingle, and simultaneously admire the watches, all the while being served with a myriad of canapés and drinks.
To see the number of gold and diamond pieces all in one place at once is not something you will get to see all that often outside of perhaps flagship boutiques in the likes of New York, London, Paris, or the largest Breitling Boutique in the world – Seoul, South Korea. So we (Watch Advice) felt privileged that Breitling partnered with us to help bring these pieces to watch lovers in the Sunshine State.
Across the afternoon and into the evening, guests could try on all the pieces to their heart’s content, with many of the gentlemen in the room gravitating towards the Premier collection and Navitimers, which you can see several of the guests getting to experience the pieces first-hand.
The ladies seemed to love the smaller 36mm Chronomat Victoria Beckham collection, and the smaller Navitimer pieces as well, all of which could be found in the master suite with views out to sea and down the beach. It’s not a bad way to go hands-on and really get a feel for these special pieces!
Oh, and did I mention the food? There was plenty on offer, from Canapés, and mini desserts (which I may have had many), and in addition, attendees could opt to have a whisky to sip whilst talking all things watches.
It was a great event, and after talking to all the guests on the night, the unanimous feedback was they thoroughly enjoyed it, the location was spectacular, the staff amazing and friendly, not to mention knowledgable, and set a bar high for others! So well done Breitling.
