Zenith has revolutionized the watchmaking industry with the release of the Defy Inventor. With the use of the market disruptive Zenith Oscillator in the Defy Inventor, the brand has been able to push watchmaking into new levels of precision, reliability and stability. The removal of several components to make way for the Zenith Oscillator is ground-breaking innovation.
The Zenith Oscillator was first used in the brand’s prototype model the “Defy Lab” which was limited to a small number of units. However, it’s now incorporated into the new Defy Inventor. The sprung balance wheel in the Zenith Oscillator increases the efficiency of the watch’s mechanical movement. The Oscillator has roughly thirty less components compared to a more traditional design, which makes it less prone to friction. It is resistant to changes in temperatures due to the materials used, thus making it more reliable and durable. The movement has earned a triple certification for Magnetic Insensitivity (ISO-764), Thermal Insensitivity (IS-3159) and Chronometric Certification (Timelab – Foundation of the Geneva Laboratory of Horology and Micro-engineering).
The heart of the Zenith Defy Inventor movement is showcased on the dial face, thanks to the sophisticated openwork design. The dial, casing and bezel are made from ultra-lightweight materials. Brushed aluminium is used for the 44mm diameter case. Aeronith, which is three times lighter than aluminium, is used for the bezel. Being a unique material, Aeronith also gives the Defy Inventor its own stylistic identity.
The remarkable technology in the Zenith Defy Inventor is sure to pave the way for the brand and the industry with more fine-tuned timepieces.
