Watchmaking mastery with TAG Heuer’s newest Calibre Heuer 02T Tourbillon

The Carrera Calibre Heuer 02T Nanograph was unveiled as TAG Heuer’s latest creation during Baselworld 2019.  The bright colours, openwork dial along with the tourbillon movement all come together to make this watch very unique. The standout feature of the Carrera Calibre Heuer 02T Nanograph is the hairspring used in the movement.

Invented and patented by TAG Heuer, this new hairspring is a world premiere in the watchmaking industry, as its made from carbon composite. The use of the carbon composite hairspring allows the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre Heuer 02T Nanograph to have perfect concentric oscillations and improve the precision of the watch. The movement also allows for two chronograph counters and to have a power reserve of approximately 65 hours.

The nanoscopic hexagonal pattern on the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre Heuer 02T Nanograph makes the dial a unique design. The multi-layer design pattern and movement combination have sandblasted and fine-brushed hexagons which can be viewed through the openwork dial. The dial also has neon green colours on various parts of the watch which certainly catches the attention of the viewer.

Watchadvice’s initial thoughts

The aesthetic look of the Tag Heuer Carrera Calibre Heuer 02T Nanograph brings a different flavour to tourbillon watches. The openwork dial showcases the intricate hexagonal pattern combined with the chronograph counters, tourbillon movement, and neon green finishes. The use of black PVD titanium for the casing, carbon for bezel/lugs and black PVD hexagonal pattern on the oscillating mass (which can be seen through the sapphire crystal caseback) makes this watch sure to be a hit in the TAG Heuer tourbillon range. However it should be noted that this watch is limited to 500 pieces worldwide.
