Earlier this month, Zenith announced a special edition model that will aid in their support for the global fight against breast cancer. In support of Susan G. Koeman, Zenith has unveiled the Chronomaster Original Pink special edition. This model will only be available during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, with a portion of the sales proceeds going directly to the organisation.
The Susan G. Koeman organisation is the world’s leading non-profit breast cancer organisation. It was founded by Nancy G. Brinker, who promised her sister, Susan G. Koeman, that she would end the disease that claimed Susan’s life. The Susan G. Koeman organisation is committed to supporting those affected by breast cancer today while they tirelessly search for tomorrow’s cures. The final goal of the organisation is to rid the world of this disease forever. This foundation helps improve access to high-quality care, offers direct patient support while empowering people with trustworthy information, and actively works hard to drive research breakthroughs.
Zenith CEO, Julien Tornare states in support of this foundation; “Supporting the Susan G. Komen foundation, with its rapport and incredible impact, is a partnership of great significance for ZENITH. The Chronomaster Original Pink will help fund impactful research and support for patients undergoing treatment, a cause we are proud and eager to be a part of over the coming years.”
This special edition Chronomaster Original Pink is created based on the same retro-inspired chronograph collection that was released by Zenith last year. This model comes in a unisex 38mm steel case with a three-link stainless steel bracelet. The timepiece features a striking metallic sunray patterned pink dial, which is honoring the colour globally associated with breast cancer.
With this model being given a 38mm case, the dial can look quite busy. The tri-counter layout for the chronograph functions almost overlaps with the minute track. However, while it is a busy dial, readability isn’t totally hindered. The sub-counters can still be easily read thanks to the pink dial acting as a contrasting background to the dial’s inscriptions and markings. The date window between 4 and 5 o’clock is visible as well, thanks to the white date disc standing out nicely against the pink.
Zenith has given the Chronomaster Original Pink special edition the latest generation of the El Primero automatic high-frequency chronograph calibre movement; the El Primero 3600. While the movement powers the normal hours and minutes functions, its main feature is the 1/10th of a second chronograph. The movement also powers the functions of small seconds at the 9 o’clock subdial, the 60-minute counter at the 6 o’clock subdial, and the 60-second counter at the 3 o’clock subdial. Zenith’s El Primero 3600 operates at a frequency of 36,000 VpH (5Hz) and gives out a minimum power reserve of 60 hours.
The Zenith Chronomaster Original Pink special edition will only be available from October 1st to October 31st. The model can only be purchased exclusively from Zenith’s physical and online boutiques around the world. The Swiss watch manufacturer will do its part in the fight against breast cancer by donating 20% of the proceeds from the sale of each Chronomaster Original Pink special edition model. All of the proceeds will go to the Susan G. Koeman foundation.
The Susan G. Koeman organisation’s president and CEO Paula Schneider expresses her gratitude for Zenith’s partnership by stating; “ZENITH has been an incredible advocate and supporter for the breast cancer community for many years, and when two organizations come together under one shared mission, we can truly be unstoppable. With ZENITH’s partnership, creating a world without breast cancer becomes a more achievable reality every day, and we’re beyond grateful for their support.”
