TAG Heuer is returning to its roots for this new release of Formula 1 models. The brand announced today that three new models would join the Formula 1 line, with a playful and edgy take on each model. These new models show in their design the passion that TAG Heuer has for speed, adrenaline, and audacious design.
TAG Heuer has given these models vivid colours, both on the strap and the dial. The energetic colours are made up of yellow, red, and green, evocative of the colours shown on a racetrack. The first TAG Heuer Formula 1 timepieces emulated the same spirit, with the models being designed with cool colours and lively character.
The colours of green, yellow and red have been characteristic colours when it comes to motorsports for the past few decades. These three colours were the traditional choice for livery colours on cars, the driver, and the team, up until the 1970s. Today these colours can still be seen on the track in the form of flags, lights, track markings, and team liveries.
All three models come in a 43mm stainless steel fine-brushed case. The bezel is made from strong black PVD with positive numerals. The stainless steel case contains a luminous sunray brushed dial that has three “azurage” chronograph sub-counters at the 2 o’clock, 6 o’clock, and 10 o’clock positions. An angled window that stands out thanks to its white background is located at the 4 o’clock position.
Each of the sunray dials is complimented nicely with contrasting black with white superluminova hour indices and hands. The chronograph hand for the green and red dial is done in white so that it contrasts nicely against the darker colours, while the yellow dial gets a red hand, which also adds an extra bit of colour to this dial.
With this being a quartz model, the case back is closed, however, it does come with a checkered flag motif, which is the sign of a completed race. All three models are offered in a textured rubber strap, with the colours of the straps matching the hue of the dial seamlessly.
This new line of Formula 1 chronographs certainly shows bold personality with bright colours. The timepieces make a statement that they are formed from the world of motorsports and that they are there for the taking of any racing enthusiast or fans of sports watches.
