Breitling’s summer collection for Women starts with a fresh reincarnation of a classic. The original divers watch that this latest model is based on, started in the 1950s, and was designed to suit the highly popular seaside leisure lifestyle. Now, the original model has made a comeback in a limited edition run with a fashionable makeover, ready to jump straight into summer. The Pastel Paradise Capsule Collection offers a variety of beautiful pastel colours, which reflects the laid-back summer vibes that the watch was designed around.
The 38-mm stainless-steel case of the new Superocean Heritage ’57 Pastel Paradise Capsule Collection features a rotating bezel along with bold hour markers. All hour markers are filled with superluminova which gives a white contrast against the colourful dials. Speaking of colour, the colour-palette chosen certainly does suit summer fashion and tastes. The colour-palette includes summer white, aquamarine, mint green, and an iced latte. Every model in the Pastel Paradise Capsule Collection comes with tone-on-tone dials, bezels, and straps.
There is a fifth version as well, which honestly is the stand-out piece in the Pastel Paradise Capsule Collection. The rainbow tangerine version is easily the most vivid out of the pastel colours chosen for this collection. The major difference between this tangerine version and the other four models is that the dial colour remains white instead of matching the strap. That’s not to say that it’s a plain white dial, however. The hour indices and hands have been coated in superluminova which comes in hues of yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, red and orange, creating a rainbow effect.
If your preference however is something more personal and “custom” taste, then you can use Breitling’s quick strap-exchange system to swap out the luxe Saffiano calfskin leather straps for another pastel colour, or two additional strap colours offered by the brand; lemon and raspberry sorbet.
The movement inside the timepieces of the Pastel Paradise Capsule Collection is the COSC-certified Breitling Caliber 10. The Calibre 10 is a self-winding bidirectional movement that has a frequency of 4hz (28, 800 VpH) and gives out a power reserve of approximately 42 hours.
Breitling has also recently partnered with DREST, a world-first interactive luxury fashion mobile game. This game lets players take on the role of fashion stylists that have the option of choosing clothing and accessories from well over 200 of the leading fashion brands. This new Pastel Paradise Capsule Collection is perfect for the “mood board challenge” that’s currently running on the DREST app. The challenge went live on June 28, 2021, and will run for approximately 72 hours.
This new collection sure does bring a laid-back yet playful feeling, perfectly suited for the summer setting. Breitling CEO Georges Kern summed up this new collection by stating that “this modern-retro tribute to the original SuperOcean is an exciting addition to the Breitling family of ladies’ watches. Of course, it’ll look great at work, but its fun-in-the-sun vibe might make you want to spend a weekend at the beach.”
