Hublot has recently unveiled a special limited edition Big Bang Unico Sapphire to mark the on-going partnership between Harrods and the Swiss watchmaker. On 15th of October, Hublot was proud to announce the launch of a new 15-limited timepiece, to celebrate the partnership with one of the world’s leading department stores.
Hublot is known throughout the watchmaking world as a brand that loves to create special edition pieces in partnership with some of the most iconic names in the world of sport, fashion and music. Hublot’s partnership with Harrod’s started in 2010 and has flourished into something special. The luxury watchmaker will be offering Harrod’s clients the fantastic opportunity to buy the Big Bang Unico Sapphire Harrods Special Edition, a watch that cannot be found anywhere else in the world except for the iconic Harrods department store of Knightsbridge.
Ricardo Guadalupe, Hublot CEO, states that “Since the launch of Hublot at Harrods in 2010, Hublot has had the pleasure of collaborating with the world’s leading luxury department store on many creative campaigns and initiatives. With this new timepiece drawing on Hublot’s expertise and in Harrods’ signature colour, available to Harrods clients in a special edition of 15 models, we are proud to see our partnership continue to go from strength to strength.”
This cool timepiece comes equipped with a 45mm polished sapphire crystal case and a SAXEM (Sapphire Aluminimum oXide and rare Earth Mineral) bezel which has been donned in Harrod’s signature green colour. The SAXEM material was first introduced into the watch world by Hublot back in 2019 where they used it on a watch case. SAXEM has impeccable resistance with the brilliant finish of a diamond.
Hublot created the SAXEM material by mixing the primary component of sapphire (aluminium oxide) with other rare earth materials such as thulium, holmium and chromium. The combination of these materials resulted in a finished product that is both harder than emerald and a finish that is greater than sapphire.
The dial comes with a camouflage design, which has also been given a green finish to match the bezel. Two chronograph counters are present on the dial, with constant seconds at 9 o’clock and a 60-minute counter at 3 o’clock. Even though the dial is a mixture of skeleton and camouflage, readability is unhindered thanks to the contrast of the hour indices and hands against the green backdrop. Hublot has used their own UNICO Manufacture movement, which puts out a power reserve of approximately 70 hours. As part of the collaboration, the Harrods logo can be seen on the sapphire case back.
Thanks to Hublot’s patented one-click system, the wearers can quickly change between a transparent lined rubber strap or a camouflage strap that matches the dial, in one single click!
Throughout November, the Big Bang Unico Sapphire Harrods will be showcased in the Hublot Harrods Christmas window, on Brompton Road. This year, Harrods explores the luxury of tomorrow and some of the most spectacular gifts in the world. Beth Hannaway, Head of fine jewellery & watches at Harrods says that “the launch of The Big Bang Unico Sapphire Harrods presents a moment for us to celebrate the incredible relationship we have built with Hublot over the past decade, through this truly unique and contemporary design, which we’re confident Harrods’ clients will love. The vibrant green Sapphire bezel and clear Sapphire case create a striking addition to the Big Bang Sapphire family – limited to only 15 pieces, I’m excited to share this latest collaborative limited edition with our clients.”
The Big Bang Unico Sapphire Harrods Special Edition comes in an exclusive box which has been specially designed for the collection. It will be exclusively available in the Hublot Boutique in the
Harrods Fine Watch Room. This timepiece certainly embodies Hublot’s philosophy of “Be First, Different and Unique”.
