The watch industries addiction to stainless steel sports watches, featuring integrated bracelets is as strong as ever, and Girard Perreqaux is happy to help us all indulge. The Laureato range is expanded with an all new 42mm limited edition piece showcasing a gorgeous Onyx dial.
Echoing the stillness of a starless sky, the Onyx dial offers a sense of depth and wonder to the face of the watch. Artisans work to shape and polish the Onyx discs by hand, revealing a mirror like finish. No less than 15 different operations are required to bring the dial to fruition, time and effort well spent when consumers are treated to the result of the watchmaker’s labour.
Not content with one luxurious dial decoration, the new Laureato also features pink gold indices and seconds hand, offering glorious contrast across the face of the watch. The use of pink gold in the use of its indices is something we have not seen before from the brand. It goes without saying, but the use of the warmer tones really sets off the look of the new piece.
The usual integrated stainless-steel bracelet takes shape, H-links make the Laureato one of the more comfortable integrated sports watches on the market. A combination of brushed and polished finishes are used between the centre and outer links, further adding to the pieces luxury sports look.
Sandwiched between the lustrous dial and a sapphire display case back, the brand shows off its reworked and reinterpreted version of a once skeletonised calibre GP1800. Bringing a power reserve of 54 hours, the automatic calibre GP1800-1404, continues Girard Perregeaux’s quest for elegance as evidenced by the high level of detailing provided in the movement.
42mm x 10.7mm the new Infinity edition Laureato will be limited to just 188 pieces worldwide. Priced at CHF13,200 the watch takes firm aim at its Genta-esque counterparts.
