A tribute to the golden age of watchmaking, reimagined for today. Raymond Weil expands its Millésime collection with three refined Tri-Compax chronographs. Vintage charm meets modern mechanics in a design built for the contemporary collector!

Raymond Weil continues to update its journey into vintage-inspired watchmaking with three new additions to their Millesime Tri-Compax Chronograph line. The Millésime Collection pays homage to the classic era of watchmaking, where mid-20th-century charm meets a modern mechanical heartbeat.

Taking the collection’s name from the French word for ‘vintage’, the Millesime range brings a refined approach to mechanical timepeices. With features like domed sapphire box crystals, sector dials, and elegant case proportions, the collection evokes the spirit of mid-century timepieces while delivering modern-day practicality. The standout detail of the Millesime collection is the simplistic dial that sits in a slim case design, made for versatility, comfortability, and everyday wear!

The Millesime Tri-Compax Chronographs add to the Millesime collection’s stylish design with added functionality. I personally really like these chronograph models. They have a trace of vintage design mixed with modern-day elegance, while the chronograph counters add complexity to an otherwise simplistic design. The current selection of Millesime Tri-Compax Chronographs includes traditional black and blue dials and a unique silver dial option with green chronograph counters.

Raymond Weil released three new Tri-Compax Chronographs prior to Watches & Wonders 2025 (as with most of their releases). The new models include a reverse panda and two anthracite models. All three timepieces retain the signature design of the Millesime Tri-Compax Chronograph design; however, they have a new look thanks to the new dial colour and case material choices.

Case Design

All three new additions to the Millesime Tri-Compax Chronograph collection come in either a stainless steel or a new rose gold PVD coated 39mm case. This 39mm case size hits the sweet spot in size, bringing elegance to the wrist without being understated. The case also features a range of finishes, from polished finishes on the case side profile, the lugs and chronograph pushers and snailed finishes on the bezel, giving the timepiece overall depth.

A box-style sapphire crystal adds a retro flair reminiscent of mid-century chronographs while also elevating the overall luxury. My favourite out of the three models has to be the rose-gold coated model. Paired with the reverse panda dial and black leather strap, the rose gold works wonders in elevating the timepeices aesthetic appearance, bringing an extra dose of elegance and luxury.

Dial Design

The watch is offered in two dial colour variations: a black sector dial with white chronograph counters for the reverse panda look, or an anthracite sector dial with silver counters. Both dials feature a snailed minute track finish. The centre of the dials comes with a vertical brushed finish that contrasts with the matte finish on the rest of the dial.

What makes the anthracite dials slightly different in design is that the tachymeter and minute track are both laid on a silver background that matches the chronograph counters. The black reverse panda dial, however, continues the dial colour onto the minute track and tachymeter scale, giving a uniform look throughout. The anthracite also features rose gold hands and hour indices. This makes the anthracite dial look slightly more complex in design compared to the reverse panda due to the variation in colours.

Movement

Driving the Millesime Tri-Compax Chronograph is the RW5030 mechanical automatic movement, a robust self-winding calibre visible through the exhibition caseback. With a 62-hour power reserve, it ensures reliable day-to-day wear without the constant need for winding. The movement adds credibility to the watch’s purpose, blending beauty with performance for real-world use.

Initial Thoughts

The latest models in the Millesime Tri-Compax Chronograph collection are a tribute to the golden era of chronograph design. The signature sector dial, balanced proportions of the case, and new dial colours give the watch wrist presence, while the mechanical movement ensures that the timepiece is not just about looks. In saying that, it is pretty hard to deny that the rose gold PVD reverse panda looks absolutely stunning. This is one model I can’t wait to try on in person!
