During Watches & Wonders 2025, TAG Heuer unveiled the next generation of Formula 1 timepeices, and they are attractive, with speed, style and legacy being the key central themes.
TAG Heuer’s introduction of the latest Formula 1 collection is the perfect timing, on the back of the luxury Swiss watchmaker being the official timekeeper of Formula 1. Early this year, for LVMH watchweek, TAG Heuer unveiled a series of Formula 1 chronograph timepieces, all in lively colours to match the bold and daring racecars on the track. There was also one special timepiece dedicated to TAG Heuer’s partnership with Oracle Red Bull Racing.

Now, TAG Heuer for Watches & Wonders 2025 is introducing a new time-and-date collection for their Formula 1 line. A total of nine timepieces are being presented, with bold colours to suit every personality and different tastes. The new colours of the Formula 1 collection weren’t just chosen simply for aesthetic reasons, but as a reference to the past, the original Formula 1 collection of 1986.
The original 1986 Formula 1 collection was made up of colourful quartz timepieces, perfect as a fun timepiece that capitalised on the Quartz Crisis era while also catering to a community of Formula 1 and racing enthusiasts.
“When Techniques d’Avant Garde completed its acquisition of Heuer in January 1986, TAG Heuer was positioned to launch an entirely new type of watch. Not a racing chronograph and not a dive watch, the new Formula 1 collection would capitalize on the demand for colourful, inexpensive quartz watches. The “Formula 1” name was perfect for TAG Heuer’s new collection, with Jack Heuer having developed Formula 1 sponsorships in the 1960s and 70s. The choice of the “Formula 1” name for the new collection was also symbolic of the new TAG Heuer, as perhaps the only thing that TAG and Heuer had it common in 1986 was their deep connection to Formula 1 racing.”
TAG Heuer on 1986 Formula 1 Collection
It makes perfect sense now to have the latest Formula 1 collection tie back to the brand’s roots where it all began. This year marks TAG Heuer’s return as a sponsor of Formula 1, alongside the brand also being partners with last years World Championship winner, Oracle Red Bull Racing.
The nine timepeices being unveiled bring a high-energy take on a racing-inspired design. Three models from the nine will form part of the core collection, which are the models in classic black and white dial, alongside a deep blue dial. The remaining six timepeices are limited edition timepeices that feature striking colour combinations: black and red, black and yellow, blue and black, white and green, white and red and a green and red edition!
Case Design
The new Formula 1 collection features a 38mm case that is a step up from the 1986 35mm models. However, it does retain the distinctive “decroche”, a hallmark design of the original that enhanced the timepiece’s elegance, creating a balance between sportiness and everyday wear. The modern take features ergonomic refinements that allow the timepieces to be very comfortable on the wrist while, of course, keeping the bold aesthetic that the TAG Heuer Formula 1 models are known for.

The cases are offered in either steel with a sandblasted finish, black DLC steel with a sandblasted finish or red/blue bio-polyamide case. The introduction of TH-Polylight for the case material is a milestone step for TAG Heuer, showcasing the brand’s commitment to innovation. The TH-Polylight material is lightweight and durable, but the best part is that it has limitless colour possibilities, giving TAG Heuer the freedom to optimise the case’s ergonomics and aesthetics.
Movement:
At the heart of the new Formula 1 collection is the Solargraph movement Calibre TH50-00. Known for harnessing the power of the sun the Solargraph draws from an unlimited energy source to continuously power the quartz movement for high precision and reliability.

With the Solargraph movement, the timepiece’s battery is recharged by the sun or even artificial light. A two-minute exposure to direct sunlight is enough to power the movement for an entire day, and once fully charged (which is approx 40 hours in the sun/artificial light), the timepiece can be powered up to 10 months with no further light exposure. The battery has a 15-year lifespan, showcasing TAG Heuer’s dedication to furthering the quartz movement.

Initial Thoughts:
With the unveiling of the latest Formula 1 collection at Watches & Wonders 2025, TAG Heuer continues to build on its deep-rooted connection to motorsport. This new collection is more than just a revival—it’s a bold statement of innovation, heritage, and modern design, tying back to the colourful and accessible Formula 1 watches of 1986 while embracing cutting-edge materials and technology.
The colours offered in this new collection reference the collection’s vintage roots while also offering new colours representative of Formula 1. The white dial variants are also representative of the TAG Heuer clocks seen throughout the Formula 1 Grand Prix races. Each model, as can be seen above, is released separately to coincide with the various races throughout the Formula 1 2025 season.
As TAG Heuer strengthens its presence in Formula 1, both as an official timekeeper and a partner of reigning champions Oracle Red Bull Racing, this collection serves as the perfect bridge between the past and the future. Whether as an everyday companion or a collector’s piece, these timepieces capture the spirit of speed, adrenaline, and legacy that define both TAG Heuer and Formula 1 itself.
