Limited to just 17 pieces worldwide, the new Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton in gold is H. Moser & Cie’s latest golden creation
H. Moser & Cie. has released possibly one of the best I’ve seen from the brand in recent times. The Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton Boutique Edition. Yes, it’s a long name, but worth it. Known for their unique take on contemporary watchmaking, the independent Swiss brand owned and run by the Meylan Family continues to do what it does best with a timepiece that is both mechanically impressive and has the looks to match. This latest iteration takes the award-winning Streamliner design one step further with the Yellow Gold case and Skeleton dial – making it a standout addition to the Streamliner lineup.

The Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton comes in the already familiar 40mm case, which is 12.1mm thick when you include the crystal. Done in 18k Yellow Gold, the case is complemented by the fully integrated yellow gold bracelet, which is a signature of the Streamliner collection. Unlike traditional integrated bracelet designs that can feel rigid or bulky, Moser’s engineers have ensured that this bracelet offers extreme comfort while maintaining a bold wrist presence. And from my experience wearing it, it is just that!

At the heart of this watch lies the fully skeletonized HMC 814 automatic movement, an automatic tourbillon with a double hairspring and 72-hour power reserve. The skeletonized bridges and baseplate showcase the inner workings of the movement, and unlike other “Skeleton” watches on the market, (which are really just open-worked), this is a true skeleton with the HMC 814 being fully skeletonised right through. This highlights the movement’s architecture, and the dark anthracite PVD finish adds to the visual appeal, which creates a striking contrast against the gold skeletonized rotor and the case itself.

Now, I can’t talk about this piece without talking about Moser’s one-minute flying tourbillon, equipped with the brand’s patented double hairspring. The idea behind a double hairspring is to ensure optimal timekeeping and precision by reducing positional errors caused by gravity. Unlike traditional tourbillons, Moser has done away with the need for an upper bridge, resulting in an unobstructed view of the tourbillon, rotating every 60 seconds.

I briefly touched on the wrist presence of this before, and for those who may have had the pleasure of owning a streamliner, or trying one on, you will know what I’m talking about here. These wear so well thanks to the case and bracelet ergonomics, and at 40mm, are the perfect size for multiple wrist sizes. Below, on Champs’ 16.5cm wrist, it looks great and the dial comes alive!

Final Thoughts
Most Moser’s are beautiful, let’s face it. Yes, some are unique and a little quirky, but their aesthetics are almost second to none. I am more of a Pioneer fan, which I pointed out in my article on The New H. Moser & Cie Pioneer Tourbillon Burgundy, but there was something to this piece that I fell in love with straight away when we saw this in Geneva last year.
The weight of the gold, the unmistakable shape and the dial all come together beautifully, but when you look at the dial up close, pictures do not do it justice at all. Add to this it is a 120m water-resistant sports watch, and you have a piece that is designed for wearing each day, if you can rock the full gold look that is. And yes, this won’t be for everyone, but as this is limited to 17 pieces, you will be hard-pressed to get one, and also, as Bertrand Meylan conveyed to me last year when I caught up with him, they are not meant to be!
