Joining a veritable murderer’s row of unique talents such as Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Winslet and Barbara Palvin, Hollywood superstar Henry Cavill has officially made his way into the world of horology!
Ever since their founding in 1832, Longines has sought to uphold the values of understated luxury and unparalleled elegance. This, combined with their ambitious and innovative spirit, has landed them in a unique position in the watch industry – and one that they have come to be renowned for over the last two centuries of their operations.
To spread that message across the mainstream landscape, however, Longines often find themselves partnering with truly exceptional individuals. From world-class athletes to influential public figures, Longines has a knack for curating a lineup of ambassadors that truly epitomise their saying: ‘Elegance is an Attitude.’
Saying that Henry Cavill simply fits the bill of such a slogan is a gross understatement. An incredibly talented actor and producer, Cavill can often be found pursuing projects based on his own interests. While he has had his fair share of Hollywood blockbusters, such as his role in Mission Impossible: Fallout and as the ever-iconic Man of Steel, he is also responsible for bringing more unique and compelling works into the limelight. His portrayal of Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, for example, was widely celebrated, and reflects his dedication to faithful adaptations of source materials. This includes his upcoming projects, Warhammer 40,000 and Voltron.
Despite all the praise and accolades – including the development of his own production company, Promethean Productions – Cavill has always remained relatively understated about his achievements. This, perhaps, is what makes him the perfect choice for an equally understated brand like Longines. It would seem, however, that the attraction was indeed mutual:
“What draws me to Longines is their understated elegance. True quality doesn’t need to announce itself. It’s evident in every detail and in every action. This is a philosophy, backed by generations of precision craftsmanship and artistry, that resonates deeply with my own values.”

He would later on make an official announcement on his Instagram, accompanied by an image of himself wearing a gorgeous Longines Flagship Heritage Moonphase. I, for one, am overjoyed to see one of my favourite actors begin their foray into the fabulous world of watches, and I hope the watch world is eager as I am to welcome him in with open arms. Longines, on the other hand, should be careful not to let Henry Cavill get too close to the watches during his factory visit. That jawline is so sharp, it could cut through just about anything.
Longines has already curated Cavill’s selection of favourite watches to wear, the details of which can be found below.
