As the Round of 16 of the Champions League (Europe’s most prestigious football club competition) kicks off in 2020, Hublot has announced a limited-edition version of their Classic Fusion model.
Hublot is the Champion’s Leagues official licensed watch partner, and as a celebration of this partnership, the brand has released a 100-piece limited run Classic Fusion AeroFusion Chronograph UEFA Champions League edition model.
Hublot was the first luxury Swiss brand to get involved with the sporting world of Football, which goes back to 2006. During 2006, they sponsored the Swiss National team, and from there they only have gone from strength to strength with their relationship with Football. The first affiliation with UEFA began in 2008 when Hublot became the “Official Timekeeper” for UEFA Euro 2008. Hublot has gone on to be the Official Timekeeper for UEFA Euro competitions since then, with the brand set to make another appearance for the UEFA Euro 2020 Tournament.
Hublot also is the Official Timekeeper for several Prestigious European Football clubs such as Manchester United, Juventus, Ajax, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea FC and Sporting Lisbon Benfica. To add to the list of significant football partnerships, Hublot has also been the Official Timekeeper for every FIFA World Cup since 2010, timing the tournaments in South Africa, Brazil and Russia.
It’s pretty safe to say then, that Hublot’s partnership with Football has quite an extensive history. With them becoming the Official Timekeeper of the UEFA Champions League tournament in 2015, it was only a matter of time before they released an exclusive timepiece to commemorate this event.
The AeroFusion Chronograph UEFA Champions League edition is made from a Satin-finished and polished Smokey midnight blue ceramic 45mm case, with a bezel to suit. The dial of this watch is what grabs all the attention though. The openwork skeleton dial almost has a three-dimensional feel to it.
This look is created thanks to the Hublot’s HUB1155 skeleton movement, which have blackened bridges that allowed for this layered three-dimensional view. One of the unique features of the dial is the hour markers and the two counters at 3 ‘clock and 9 o’clock positions. The way they have been applied onto the dial make it seem as though they are “floating” above the skeletonised movement.
The recognition for the partnership with UEFA Champions League is shown on the 3 o’clock counter, which is shaped in the form of the star motif on the iconic logo of the Champions League tournament. Hublot’s HUB1155 calibre movement is a self-winding automatic chronograph movement, that can provide up to 42hrs of power reserve. This watch can also withstand up to 50meters of water resistance (5 ATM).
The AeroFusion Chronograph UEFA Champions League edition comes with an open case back that shows the HUB1155 movement. The case back is also engraved with “Limited Edition” and refers to the specific model number out of the 100 limited runs. As with most collaborations, the partnership with UEFA Champions League is shown on the Centre of the case back.
The Classic Fusion AeroFusion Chronograph UEFA Champions League is a watch made not only for fans of UEFA’s Champions League Tournament but for all fans of the world sport.
