Australian cricket prodigy Cameron Green takes centre stage in the latest Rado campaign to unveil the new Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Skeleton!

Rado recently announced their latest Captain Cook timepiece, this time being a high-tech ceramic skeleton version. Rado unveiled the timepiece in a campaign that featured the Australian Cricket prodigy Cameron Green. This campaign encapsulated the psychological and athletic challenges of the game and highlights the importance of perfect timing on the pitch, and in life.

The newest brand ambassador for Rado is seen as a once-in-a-generation talent. To celebrate Cameron Green’s achievements and illustrious career, Rado has done a series of locker-room portrait photos and a short film, which also highlight the intensity, power and focus required by the highest level of cricket players.

Cameron Green

Cameron Green made his International Cricket Debut for Australia in a One Day International (ODI) game against India in December 2020. Since his debut, he has gone on to make a name for himself, gaining a reputation as one of the world’s best all-rounders, being skilled both as a batsman and fast bowler.

Some of his cricketing highlights include being signed to Mumbai Indians in 2022 – a deal that made him the second-most expensive overseas player in the history of the Indian Premier League and the most expensive Australian player—before moving to Royal Challengers Bangalore for the 2024 league.

The captured locker-room photos of Cameron Green depict a modern athlete preparing to face the demands of a sport that requires mental and energetic prowess while also subtly showcasing the contrasts of contemporary cricket: Cameron’s youth and the contrast of centuries of traditions. The imagery showcases the stillness of the low-lit locker room, while Cameron’s all-white stands out as a beacon of ferocity. His cricket bat is being wielded as a formidable instrument against the upcoming battle, with his thoughtful gaze showing the sheer determination to win brewing within.

Alongside the images, the film captures the full dramatic side of cricket. It includes Cameron’s pre-match rituals, from the elation of the duel to the rewarding post-match feel. The combination of the images and film by Rado offers a great view not only into the world of cricket but also into Cameron Green’s life.

All-new Rado Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Skeleton

The timepiece on Cameron’s wrist, the latest Rado Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Skeleton, is a robust watch designed for daring adventures. It is a perfect representation of the player’s temperament, passion, and ambition. The watch is created to withstand the harshest conditions and is an ideal companion for anyone who’s traversing rough terrains or meeting the demands of high-intensity athletes.

The Rado Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Skeleton (ref. R32192152) comes in a matt black high-tech ceramic case which is of monobloc construction. The case features a rose-gold-coloured PVD-coated stainless steel turning bezel with a laser-structured black high-tech ceramic anti-fingerprint insert. The bezel’s knurling, lacquered numbers on the ceramic insert and the crown are all done in rose gold, which beautifully contrasts with the black.

Rado – Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Skeleton – Black and Gold elements work well to provide an aesthetically pleasing timepiece!

When it comes to the design of the dial of this latest Captain Cook, not much has changed when compared to previous versions of this timepiece. What I do like about this version, however, is that the dial is nicely colour-matched to the bezel. The hands and hour indices all have rose-gold borders. The special feature of this timepiece is the Super-LumiNova. There aren’t too many watches I’ve seen with black Super-LumiNova, which Rado has executed quite well on this timepiece to allow easy readability of the indices and hands against the skeletonised dial.

Rado – Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Skeleton – Open case back showing R808 movement

The movement used in this latest Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Skeleton is the Rado Calibre R808. This automatic movement offers an impressive 80-hour power reserve and an anti-magnetic Nivachron™ hairspring while exceeding standard test requirements from 3 to 5 positions for higher accuracy. The watch comes with an open case back as well, allowing a view of this movement.

Initial thoughts

There is already a Captain Cook timepiece in Rado’s collection that features a similar colour palette (model ref. R32127162). However, this latest version has a more subtle aesthetic appearance, as it does not use directly contrasting white elements on the dial and bezel.

As a diver’s watch (300m of water-resistance) the timepiece has both the looks and functionality. It stated that the timepiece feels great on the skin, thanks to the “streamlined, monobloc case and the sensation of its high-tech ceramic three-row bracelet”. If you are after a sports timepiece with a rugged design and durability and functionality, this latest Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Skeleton is an ideal candidate.
