The Hour Glass Hosts ‘IAMWATCH 2024’ In Singapore

by Sameera Gamage

IAMWATCH 2024 allows attendees and the public to connect with fellow collectors and industry leaders who share a passion for the world of horology.

In 2004, The Hour Glass launched the world’s first enthusiast-driven watch exposition, “Tempus – The Great Watchscapade”. The event was highly celebrated as it enriched the experience of not only the exhibitors but all the visitors in attendance. Now, exactly two decades later, The Hour Glass is stepping up the game to reveal a new community-driven engagement platform – “IAMWATCH 2024”.

IAMWATCH 2024 is set to take place in Singapore in the next few days, and it promises to be one of the premier gatherings for watch enthusiasts and industry professionals. It combines the pioneering spirit of Tempus and the curatorial focus of The Persistence of Memory, an Online Viewing Room that was launched by The Hour Glass in 2021 and used to survey the last 50 years of artisanal independent watchmaking. The event will showcase incredible timepieces and an impressive array of luxury watches from established and up-and-coming brands. The Hour Glass will bring together 40 watchmakers, industry leaders and influential voices for the curated several get-togethers, lectures, masterclasses and conversations for the four-day event in Singapore.

Each session has been designed for the Pan-Asian watch-collecting community, bringing together more face-to-face interactions in a more relaxed and casual setting. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the latest innovations in horology, with exhibitions that showcase cutting-edge technology and craftsmanship along with the human qualities that drive the watch industry: passion, patience and perseverance.

“We are pleased to welcome the watch community to IAMWATCH 2024. The IAMWATCH 2024 platform is not just about showcasing artisanal watchmaking; it’s an opportunity for meaningful engagement and discourse. We have curated a series of GTGs, insightful lectures by writer David Rooney on the evolution of timekeeping and designer Lee Yuen-Rapati on watch typography; masterclasses by Jean-Claude Biver and Maximilian Büsser, and conversations with watchmakers, designers and tastemakers. IAMWATCH 2024 will be an unparalleled opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts to explore today’s horological landscape.”

Mr Michael Tay, Group
Managing Director of The Hour Glass.

IAMWATCH 2024 will also offer engaging panel discussions and workshops, providing very helpful insights from leading experts in the field of watchmaking. An example of this is the “Masterclass on Watchmaking Entrepreneurship”. There is where the attendees will be able to “explore the mind of a watch industry visionary”. MB&F Founder and Creative Director Maximilian Büsser shares the incredible journey he went on not only personally but also in creating MB&F and its sister brand MADEditions and the many entrepreneurial lessons he learnt during these projects.

The attendees will also have a chance to hear from Jean-Claude Biver, the undisputed marketing legend in the world of horology. During IAMWATCH 2024, he will share his insight on leadership, brand building, and passion learned from his extensive career, during which he has worked at Blancpain, Omega, Hublot, and BIVER. This is just a snippet of the speakers that will be in attendance at the different lectures, masterclasses and get-togethers at IAMWATCH 2024.
