The Breitling Time Capsule Heritage Exhibition has moved to Melbourne, and they celebrated in style with a launch event at the Breitling Boutique on Collins Street and Watch Advice was there to celebrate with them!
The 140th birthday celebrations continued this week for Breitling as their Time Capsule: Heritage Exhibition moved to Melbourne, and to launch it, Breitling threw a great event at their new Collins Street Boutique in Melbourne. It was a special night with all the Heritage pieces on show, not to mention their entire range of watches for all to admire and try on.
To kick off the night, Christopher Leigh, Managing Director for Breitling Oceania welcomed guests and introduced Mauro Maggiore, Breitling’s Global Head of Training who had flown all the way here for the event. Mauro, who is an avid watch collector and aficionado, not just of Breitling, but all watches, engaged guests with his knowledge of the brand and its historical significance to the watch industry. Talking to Mauro afterwards, he has a massive passion for Breitling, its history, and where the brand is heading today under CEO Georges Kern.
Interestingly, Breitling was a pioneer in the watch space when it came to chronographs, and as Mauro explains, when you look at chronographs from any brand, there are elements in these that have at one point in time come from, or been inspired by Breitling.
Set against the backdrop of the Breitling Boutique in Melbourne, which is the largest in Australia and very reminiscent of a New York loft having exposed brick and ironwork, plus a large upstairs area, guests mingled and talked, sharing stories about watches and their experience with Breitling.
Upstairs, some special pieces on display, namely the Cocktail piece that Beatrice, Willy Breitling’s wife wore herself back in the 1940s drew guests, and while there, the open bar and for those inclined to dance, a DJ with accompanying Saxophonist. Very cool and very Breitling!
As a special treat, the food was all designed and prepared by award-winning Chef, Scott Pickett and his team, which from all reports, and having sampled a few of the dishes myself, was delicious. Paired with a Negoni, it went down a treat!

Amongst this, guests we all too happy to show off their Breitling pieces, as were the staff representing the brand proudly, and some were very nice indeed!
All in all, it was a great night and a packed house which just shows how much love Breitling has in Melbourne and Australia overall, justifiably so, as they have some great watches and a long history of creating timekeeping instruments.
