EVENTS: Longines Host Conquest Launch In Brisbane

by Matt Clymo

Last week, Longines held a special night to launch their new Conquest models to VIP guests and collectors in Brisbane. Watch Advice was there to capture the moments.

Earlier this year, Longines brought their new Conquest collection to market. A suite of vibrant colours and strap combinations in both men’s and women’s sizes and styles which seemed to have been well received by the market. This sentiment was echoed strongly by guests when last week, the Brisbane Longines Boutique held a cocktail evening to launch this new range to the market. Watch Advice went along to capture the moments and watches, and maybe sneak in a cocktail and canapé or two!

In the men’s collection, the new 42mm Chronographs were a bit of a crowd favourite, with the new Champagne dial colourway and rubber strap (pictured above) seemingly the pick of the bunch. It certainly caught my eye along with others.

In addition to this, the white and green version of the Longines Conquest gives off very different vibes, this time more fresh and vibrant – potentially a watch that is suited for summer and those that want a more modern look to their chronograph.

With the re-fresh of the Conquest ladies collection, Longines has given them a range of vibrant colourways for the dials and straps. The first thing that you notice (other than the colour this is) is the rubber straps have been constructed in a way that is both solid and soft. It seems like an oxymoron slightly, but then you get them in your hand and on the wrist, you see exactly what I mean here.

The other interesting element about the rubber straps on the new Conquest is the embossed design on them, which is a stylised Winged Hour Glass logo – the oldest trademark in Swiss watchmaking. This trademark dates back to 1880 when co-founder Ernest Francillon trademarked it as soon as possible in Swiss law.

For those who want more of an elegant look on their wrist, the white Conquest 34mm with the Mother Of Pearl Dial and diamond set bezel and indices gives people a great option and with this piece, you can dress up and down, or add some elegance to a less formal outfit.

The guests were treated to some delicious canapés and drinks, in between all the watch viewing and trying on. I’ll admit that these were nice, and the red Margarita was especially was a crowd favourite.

Being in the Longines Boutique meant that it wasn’t just the Conquest models on show, guest could try on and get hands on with any of the models, with quite a few taking advantage of this. You can see below a couple of the ladies trying on the Mini Dolcevita model on which caught their attention.

Guests mingled across the night with new and old friends, and plenty of knowledgeable staff were on hand to answer any questions they had and help them go hands-on with the watches. Australian Retail Director for Longines, Alessandro Maggini flew up from Melbourne to help host the night and talk to guests. When brand representatives make an appearance at these intimate gatherings it’s always well-received by collectors and watch lovers alike due to their deep understanding of the brand and the ability to talk with them at more of an enthusiast level.

It was a great night and enjoyed by all that attended. Thank you to Longines for hosting the event and for having Watch Advice along!
