MR Porter has collaborated with Jaeger-LeCoultre to create an exclusive series of three unique Reverso Classic Large Small Seconds timepieces, each with their own unique caseback engraving.
MR PORTER was first launched in 2011 and has since become the world’s leading, award-winning online destination for men’s style. The home of timeless luxury for the modern man, Mr PORTER offers exceptional products from the best menswear and luxury brands, including luxury watch brands.
While MR PORTER offers a range of luxury watch brands, one of the standout ones is Jaeger-LeCoultre. The Swiss watchmaker has done a few collaborative pieces with the luxury watchhouse, with the latest being this new exclusive series of three unique Reverso Classic Large Small Seconds timepieces.
So what makes these timepieces unique compared to Jaeger-LeCoultre standard Reverso models? When you flip the dial side over, you are treated to a beautiful limited edition caseback engraving that shows either the Sydney Harbour, Los Angeles city skyline against the Santa Monica Mountains, or the Marina Bay Sands, along with the Art Science Museum located in Singapore.
The collaborative partnership between MR PORTER and Jaeger-LeCoultre first began back in 2021. With the start of the partnership, the first timepieces to be released was a trio of unique Reverso Classic Large Small Seconds watches, however, this time with case back engravings showing images of New York, London and Hong Kong.
It’s great to see Sydney and Australia get recognised in this latest limited edition release alongside two iconic cities. Sydney’s two most iconic architectural pieces are what’s depicted on the Reverso case back. The engraving carefully outlines the image of the Sydney Harbour whilst also showing the Sydney Opera House and then a partial view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background. All of this is depicted during Sydney’s “golden hour”, shown through the sun rays beaming from behind the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The Reverso Classic Large Small Seconds Cities Editions have a 45.6mm x 27.4mm rectangular stainless steel case with a silvered guilloché dial. The dial comes with black Arabic numerals, which stand out beautifully against the silver dial. A hint of colour is used to break up the monochromatic look, with blue being used for the hour and minute hands, along with the hand for the constant seconds sub-counter at 6 o’clock.
Sitting inside these Reverso Classic Large Small Seconds Cities Editions is Jaeger-LeCoultre’s hand-wound 822/2 calibre movement. This manual wound movement features just 108 parts, from which it can produce a decent power reserve of 42 hours while operating at a frequency of 21,600 VpH (3Hz).
The two standout pieces for me personally are, of course, our very own Sydney model and also the Los Angeles city depiction. The engraving of Loss Angles City is quite impressive as it shows the city in detail with the backdrop of the Santa Monica mountains. However, the Sydney model takes the cake as it’s more simplistic in design, allowing the viewer to focus purely on the detailed design of the two iconic Sydney monuments.
While this latest trio of unique Reverso Classic Large Small Seconds timepieces are classified as “limited edition” timepieces, the actual number for each model is not stated. If, however, the New York, London and Hong Kong timepieces are anything to go by as these pieces are discontinued, these models will surely be limited-edition as well. The timepieces are available for purchase exclusively from Mr PORTER’s online website.
