Van Cleef & Arpels are experts at breathing life into an enchanted scene, wether it be a beautiful landscape or endearing sculpted characters. This new Lady Féeri timepiece is just that, now re-imagined in new hues!
The Van Cleef & Arpels Lady Féeri was first unveiled during this year’s Watches & Wonders event. Now, the brand has released the latest edition, with re-imagined colours that beautifully portray the fairy with the backdrop of the sun setting on a evening sky. The dial is a masterful creation, displaying the techniques mastered by the Van Cleef & Arpels watchmaking workshops in Geneva.
Ever since the 1940’s, Van Cleef & Arpels has been showcasing the beauty of fairies with enchanting designs on their watches. Now, the Maison is presenting the Lady Féeri in different shades of pink and gold. The latest edition to the Féeri collection, this beautiful new timepiece is presented in a 33mm 18k rose gold case, which perfectly complements the colours presented on the dial. The side of the case and the bezel of the watch is set with diamonds with varying sizes.
This re-imagined Lady Féeri is made possible by different shades of enamel and miniature painting, and three Extraordinary Objects which reflect the Maison’s taste for the mechanical arts. The dial is certainly something to behold. The design remains unchaged from what was released during Watches & Wonders 2023. Firstly, we see the fairy seated on a iridescent cloud that is made from mother-of-pearl. The outline of the cloud, along with the figure of the fairy is all done in 18k rose gold.
The fairy is wearing a dress of diamonds, pink sapphires,and miniature painting on gold. Her wings are coated with a powdery gradient, achieved by combining translucent pink plique-à-jour enamel with opaque pink enamel. These specific techniques were chosen by Van Cleef & Arpels as they create interplays of light and transparency within the wings, which are bordered with diamonds minutely set after the enameling. Finally the face/head is finished with diamonds and miniature pink sapphires, finishing off a feminine figure.
The time on the Lady Féeri timepiece is read through the fairies hand movement. The fairies hand acts as as the minute indicator, with the indications shown from the 1 o’clock position to 5 o’clock position in increments of 10. The hour indication is shown through a small window that’s sitting above the clouds at the 6 o’clock position.
Van Cleef & Arpel’s Lady Féeri is equipped with the self-winding Valfleurier movement that comes with jumping hours and retrograde minutes which has been developed exclusively for Van Cleef & Arpels. The movement comes with a 36-hour power reserve. The timepiece comes with an open case back, which shows the oscillating weight engraved with a nightsky, showing a full moon sprinkled with stars. The sapphire glass protecting the case back is decorated beautifully with clouds, with enameled contours that finish with a glittery effect.
A total of 364 diamond stones are used in the creation of the Lady Féeri which total 4.73 carats, 2 mother-of -pearl stones and lastly 12 sapphire stones which total 0.01 carats. The timepiece is presented in a plum coloured alligator leather strap, which complements the dial nicely. A work of art showcasing the techniques of the watchmakers, jewelry-makers, and skilled workers at Van Cleef & Arpel. The Lady Féeri is a service to the Maison’s ‘Poetry of Time’, transforming challenges to innovation.
