For the very first time, Audemars Piguet has unveiled a series of Royal Oak timepieces for the smaller wrist sizes, fitted with glittering snow-set diamonds, continuing Audemars Piguet’s long legacy of Haute Joaillerie timepieces.
Audemars Piguet has designed these new Royal Oak timepieces to cater for the smaller wrists, and with that have released two different case sizes, in either 34mm or 37mm. For each case size, two timepieces are presented: a 18-carat white or pink gold that’s covered with an array of various-sized brilliant-cut diamonds.
The brilliant-cut diamonds range from 0.5mm to 2.2mm in diameter and have been set into the four timepieces using the technique named as “snow-setting”. This is the first time a Royal Oak timepiece has been given this snow-setting technique. Another first for the brand is the 34mm Royal Oak getting a full gemset design. Audemars Piguet has used the highest requirements in terms of clarity, cut and colour for each diamond that is set into the four models. Each of the two 34mm timepieces count a total of 2,255 brilliant-cut diamonds (~6.6 carats), while the 37mm models have 2,123 brilliant-cut stones (~7.2 carats) each.
Royal Oak Self-winding / 34 mm

The 34mm models as stated previously come in either 18-carat pink gold or 18-carat white gold case. The entirety of the timepiece has essentially been covered with diamonds, from the case, bezel, dial to the bracelet. Both the 18-carat pink gold and white gold has the same diamond layout, with the snow-setting technique being used to place all the diamonds. The “Audemars Piguet” signature on the dial has been printed in black on a satin-brushed gold cartouche, which echoes the case and bracelet colour.
The case, bezel and crown of each 34mm model has been snow-set with a total of 276 brilliant-cut diamonds which total (~1.55 carats). The 18-carat pink gold or white gold dial has been snow-set with 879 brilliant-cut diamonds (~1.32 carats). The hour markers on each of the 34mm models have 13 baguette-cut diamond hour-markers (double markers at 12 o’clock) which total (~0.32 carat). The hands of each watch are either made from pink gold/white gold depending on the model. Finally, the bracelets are snow-set with 1,100 brilliant-cut diamonds (~3.7 carats), with either a 18-carat pink/white gold
AP folding clasp.
Audemars Piguet has used the Calibre 5809 movement on each of the 34mm timepieces. The Calibre 5809 movement operates at a high-frequency of 28,800 VpH (4hz) while giving out a decent power reserve of 50 hours. The movement stands at just 4mm thick, which makes the overall case size of the timepiece approximately 9mm. Both 34mm models come with an open case back, in which the full rotor along with the movement’s finishing techniques such as Côtes de Genève, traits
tirés, circular satin, snailing and polishing can be seen. Another first for 34mm models in the Royal Oak collection, the date window has been removed to make way for the snow-set gems on the dial.
Royal Oak Self-winding / 37 mm

The 18-carat pink gold or white gold 37mm timepieces are designed in the same fashion as 34mm, albeit now larger size. With the watch industry leaning towards smaller case sizes, the 37mm sits in a great position of being a comfortable fit while not being too small for wrist presence.
For both 37mm models, the case including bezel and crown have been snow-set with a total of 318 brilliant-cut
diamonds (~1.9 carats). The dials come snow-set with 699 brilliant-cut diamonds (~1.4 carats). Like the 34mm timepieces, the hour indices are 13 baguette-cut diamond hour-markers (~0.32 carat), with white gold or pink gold used for the hands. Lastly, the bracelets of each 37mm timepiece is set with 1,106 brilliant-cut diamonds (~3.88 carats), with either a 18-carat white or pink gold AP folding clasp.
The movement inside the 37mm models is self-winding Calibre 5909. This Calibre 5909 movement operates at the same high-frequency as the Calibre 5809 movement, however, is able to put out a slightly larger power reserve at approximately 60 hours. The open case back allows the viewer to see the Calibre 5909 movement, which this time comes with a skeletonised winding rotor, allowing more of the movement to be seen underneath. The Calibre 5909 carries the same aesthetic finishing techniques as the Calibre 5809 movement.
