The Patek Philippe 5990/1A Nautilus Travel Time Chronograph is one of the brand’s rare steel timepieces. The timepiece has a host of functions and has been recently updated with the latest model being released last year. This new update brings mainly a dial colour variation as it now comes with a blue dial that Patek describes as a “radiant sunburst finish and a subtle black gradation to the periphery.”
Regardless, the Patek Philippe 5990/1A Nautilus Travel Time Chronograph is an impressive timepiece with the 41.5mm watch having the self-winding calibre CH28-520 C FUX movement behind it. The movement is able to power three convenient and user-friendly complications, which include, as Patek describes it: a flyback chronograph, a Travel Time function (two time zones with two separate hour hands; the skeletonized hand shows home time), and an analog date at 12 o’clock which is synchronized with local time.
The watch comes with an open case back in which Patek’s finishing of the CH28-520 C FUX movement can be viewed, along with the 21k gold central rotor. In this article, we have a look at some of the celebrities wearing this rare piece, either in the previous (now discontinued) black dial or in the latest blue dial variant.
