TAG Heuer and Porsche have teamed up again to release another timepiece, just in time for LVMH Watch Week 2023. In February 2021, TAG Heuer and Porsche formed one of the strongest partnerships between a watch manufacturer and a car manufacturer. Since the partnership’s inception in 2021, five watch collaborations have been done between the two brands, which is indeed quite impressive.
Now, TAG Heuer and Porsche have teamed up again for their 6th collaboration, a nod to the racing universe to create the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche Orange Racing. This special edition racing chronograph was created to celebrate the TAG Heuer Carrera as the perfect symbol of the two brand’s racing heritage.
CEO of TAG Heuer, Frédéric Arnault, says: “With such a strong heritage shared with Porsche in the racing field, we are excited to present a new watch that embodies every aspect of this incredible sport. It is also a nod to the history shared by TAG Heuer and Porsche – a history on which we continue to build. Together, with their expertise and creativity, our teams have created a bold and powerful timepiece encased in a sporty yet elegant design.”
This TAG Heuer limited edition piece comes in a 44mm diameter Black DLC steel case and features a black ceramic tachymeter fixed bezel. The colours orange and black have specifically been chosen to represent this partnership. The vibrant orange can be found throughout the watch, inspired by the colour of heat sparks made by the car on asphalt. The colour orange is also a nod to the colour of fire, an emblematic symbol of speed. This orange can be seen on Porsche lettering on the tachymeter scale on the bezel, the sub-counter rings, the minute track ring, the crown ring and the chronograph seconds hand. On the case back, the skeletonised rotor also has its inscriptions in orange.
The other prominent colour in this special edition timepiece is black. Black was chosen for this piece as it offers a stark contrast to the vivid orange throughout the watch, making it stand out beautifully.
To match the beautiful design of the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph X Porsche Orange Racing is its performance, upheld by the TAG Heuer’s in-house Calibre Heuer 02 movement. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 Vph (4Hz), this movement can provide an impressive 80-hour power reserve. The open case back allows for the beautiful movement to be seen up close whilst also showcasing the custom-designed oscillating weight, which pays homage to the Porsche steering wheel.
The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph X Porsche Orange Racing is offered a carbon-like calfskin strap as standard. The strap is full black, which like the dial, highlights the orange stitching with its stark contrast.
Robert Ader, Chief Marketing Officer at Porsche AG, is a fan of this new creation as he states: “The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche Orange Racing is all about the racing universe and represents the high performance and thrill of speed, values that we share deeply with TAG Heuer, and a fine example of our common mindset as we continue our exciting journey as partners.”
The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph X Porsche Orange Racing will be available in February 2023 from Tag Heuer boutiques, the brand’s e-commerce website and selected retail partners.
