Laurent Ferrier Classic Traveller “Série Atelier” Magnetic Green

by Chamath Gamage

Last week, LAURENT FERRIER released the latest update to their Classic Traveller with a dual time zone watch, a simplistic, elegant, and stylish timepiece with a beautiful new colour theme.

LAURENT FERRIER’s No.3 “Série Atelier” timepieces are a testament to those that refuse to compromise on beauty for the sake of comfort, knowing that both can be achieved at the same time. This latest version of the Classic Traveller reflects just that, a timepiece that is not only comfortable to wear but has the looks and functionality to match.

The Classic Traveller “Série Atelier” Magnetic Green comes in a 41mm grade 5 polished titanium case. The case while not only being soft, is designed with domes and curves that are typical of the “pebble-shaped” cases created by LAURENT FERRIER from the brand’s early days. The sides, bezel, and lugs all come with a polished finish as well, which gives this timepiece a very elegant finish.

The dial design is also just as, if not more, elegant than the case encapsulating it. Featuring a stunning sunburst “magnetic green” dial, the is made up of sharp refined elements that add to the luxurious appearance of the watch. Depending on the angle of exposure to light, the sunburst green dial can give different green reflections. The dial comes with 18ct white gold drop-shaped applied hour-markers, with the 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock markers replaced with studs with rounded heads in polished gold.

Watchadvice’s thoughts:

A dual timezone watch that is very simplistic and easy to read? The LAURENT FERRIER Classic Traveller “Série Atelier” Magnetic Green has nailed it. The beautiful case is a snippet of the elegance in design this watch carries.

The 18ct sharp hour markers are matched with the spear-like Assegai shape (one of LAURENT FERRIER’s favourite designs) hour and minute hand along with the slim baton-shaped hand on the 6 o’clock sub counter. This sub-counter is used to display the constant seconds.

The dual timezone can be easily read and adjusted. The two different timezones are shown by the adjustment of the hour hands, where the minute is read the same regardless of the timezone. With this in mind, the hour hand on the centre of the dial shows the local time in whichever current timezone the wearer is in. The aperture at 9 o’clock shows the “home time” and will remain constant regardless of travel. The adjustment of the home time is directly controlled by the crown.

A minimalistic display with a very elegant touch, the LAURENT FERRIER Classic Traveller “Série Atelier” Magnetic Green is an ideal traveller’s companion. Like the previous editions of this timepiece, it is limited to 15 models only.
