Earlier this month, TAG Heuer released the latest timepiece in partnership with Formula 1 Red Bull racing team. The Swiss watch brand’s partnership with Formula 1 goes back many years when it all started with Jack Heuer as he initiated the first Formula 1 partnership. Ever since the late 1960’s TAG Heuer’s partnership with Formula 1 has stayed strong.
Wind back to a few years ago, in 2016, TAG Heuer became the official partner and timekeeper of the Red Bull Racing Formula 1 Team. Showing support through all the events including last year’s Max Verstappen’s incredible victory, the partnership between the two has been extended till 2024.
Over the years, TAG Heuer and Red Bull Racing Team have collaborated in creating some great timepieces that racing fanatics would love. This latest release is no different. Now with a bolder design and more advanced technical features compared to its successor, the new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Red Bull Racing Special Edition timepiece is built to win the hearts of all Red Bull racing team fans.
Design:
When creating this new Formula 1 Special Edition model, the designers worked closely with the Red Bull Racing team to make sure that the graphic codes of the current Red Bull team were shown on the timepiece. The timepiece comes in a 43mm steel fine-brushed and polished case with an aluminium blue tachymeter fixed bezel. The designers from both teams worked to make sure that the bold colours of the Red Bull Racing Team were displayed on the watch.
The dark blue tones can be seen in the bezel as well as on the beautiful sunray blue dial. The other colour additions include the red tones which can be seen on the minute track on the 6 o’clock sub-counter. The hands-on 6 o’clock and 9 o’clock sub counters are done in red as well which contrast’s well against the sunray blue dial. The most striking effect however is yellow, which is seen again on the 6 o’clock sub-counter and the chronograph central second hand. All these colour variations are done in perfect balance by not being “in your face” yet enough to draw attention to the dial.
Further Formula 1 references can be seen in the dial from the Arabic hour numerals, which have been inspired by racing car speedometers. The lines above the 5 and 7 hour numerals are also a subtle reference to the starting line on a Formula 1 track. The legibility of the Formula 1 cockpits needs to be clean and clear, which is also the same ideology given to this new timepiece. There is plenty of space between the hour numerals and the sub-counters, making the legibility of the dial clear.
Movement:
TAG Heuer has used a quartz movement for this timepiece, which powers the normal hour, minutes, and seconds along with the constant seconds 3 o’clock sub-counter, 1/10th of a second chronograph counter at 6 o’clock, and the minute counter at 9 o’clock. The case back features the Red Bull Racing team’s logo along with TAG Heuer’s logo.
The watch is offered in two bracelet options. The standard is the Steel 3 rows bracelet with steel folding clasp and the other is the textured blue rubber strap. The steel option is the more classy look which can suit formal occasions. The blue rubber strap completes the sporty look of this watch and matches very nicely with the dial.
Paying tribute to all Red Bull Racing fans, the new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Red Bull Racing Special Edition has all the right ingredients to make racing enthusiasts fall in love.
